"A new personal best. Yes! "

Since I first became involved in fitness and health 24 years ago, I have been setting new goals each time. And now with my three children, I want to be able to teach them the same principles.

Whether it be running, lifting a new weight, or preparing for a race or sport, one thing I found I always needed was strength. I do admit that when I was younger, it became about self reliance. I thought I could do things like parenting, being a teacher, or being a good wife as if I did not need the Lord's help. As I grew in my walk, my eyes turned more to the Lord. His strength lifts us up. More of Him. Less of me.

His strength also reminds me of something I recently read:

"Play Hard. Pray Hard."

I had to look twice when I saw what it read on a young girl's t-shirt; I loved it! It reminded me of what our pastor said to us on Sunday when he quoted, "align your expectations with what the Bible teaches." We can "play hard" in our all physical activities or sports of any kind, but are we "praying just as hard?"

I love when I see quotes like that because it makes me take a step back to make sure that what I am teaching or whatever I am doing at the time is what God wantsand that requires real strength! Where can you turn to Him this week and seek His strength through prayer?

I might just get that t-shirt.
