Did you know there are 5 components of Physical Fitness? Each component should strive to improve your overall health and life:
1) cardiovascular endurance
2) muscular strength
3) muscular endurance
4) flexibility
5) body composition
Although we should aim for a well balanced approach, have you stopped to consider what a spiritual approach might look like in these five areas?
As we start our co-op year together, I want to encourage you to seek ways to grow in each area. In a series of posts, I will provide a small way our families can grow stronger together through health and fitness, while keeping God at the core of it all.
1) Endurance:
Hebrews 12:1-2 says "...let us run the race with endurance..."
Cross country season has begun, and soon my children will be competing in races. Endurance is something they have been training for quite some time. It's vital in cross country running, because as we all know, you cannot sprint a long distance. Our pacer run that is held in gym class is an endurance run.
I want to encourage you that although we can become easily distracted with the world around us, let's strive for our end goal. Let us continue to open up our Bibles daily with our kids and teach them to keep going. The race is long, but one day it will all be worth it, and no physical trophy or ribbon will ever replace who is truly first in our lives!
